You’re probably well aware that it is just eight days until Christmas… which means you still have a good solid week to sort out your gifts. Now if you’re a true procrastinator shopping probably won’t be on your radar until late next week – but save yourself the stress of last minute shopping and the horrendous war-zone of the shops and sort out your list now!
Just because you’ve left it a bit late doesn’t mean you can’t give your loved ones beautiful, thoughtful gifts – that look like you’ve considered and bought well in advance!
I believe the key to a thoughtful gift is personalisation. Any time you can add something to make it unique you’re sure to score instant brownie points! Here are some ideas to get you going...
CHEERS ME DEARS
Alcohol is a winner for most people! But don’t just give a bottle of their favourite spirit or a nice bottle of champagne… go that extra mile for something truly unique…
For the in-laws… give them a bottle of wine or champagne from the year they got married.
For your beer-guzzling partner/husband/brother… Beer Hawk Beer Club. Every month they’ll get a selection of beers delivered straight to their door. I've given variations of this to my husband, father-in-law and brother-in-law and it ALWAYS goes down a treat.
EXPERIENCE SOMETHING DIFFERENT
There are so many different experiences out there; you’re sure to be able to find one perfectly suited for everyone on your list. For bonus points, give them a trinket that represents the experience rather than just a piece of paper!
For your hip interior-obsessed friend… Terrarium Design School. Terrariums are all the rage at the moment – give them a small succulent with details of the class.
For the foodies… Cooking classes are always fun! L’Atelier des Chefs has classes for cuisines from all over the world so you can either choose or buy a gift certificate and let them decide!
YOU CAN'T BEAT A BIT OF BLING
Personally, a nice thoughtful piece of jewellery will always be top trumps on my list!
For your girlfriend/wife… it must be Monica Vinader. Most women LOVE this designer and there’s no doubt she’ll show it off to her friends. The Baja Bracelets are my favourite, but there are loads to choose from – and you can have them engraved.
GO WITH A THEME
For those super special people that deserve the world, go with a theme and create a personalised Christmas hamper or selection just for them!
For the entrepreneur… start with a personalised business card holder, Aspinal and Smythson do some lovely ones. Stationary is a must – Swedish design stationer kikki-K has just set up shop in London and their diaries are lovely! Add in a personalised mug and some beautiful desk ornaments, done!
Now get shopping! And have yourself a Merry Christmas :) x
